
Welcome to The Funki Chef!
The Funki Chef has been a dream in the making for many years. Born in the African bush back in 2008, it started as a simple idea, a young chef with a big dream of one day having her own dessert shop.
What began as imagination, scribbles, recipes and “one day…” conversations slowly grew into something much bigger.
Fast forward to 2025 and after purchasing Coffee Comfort, that spark was reignited. The dream of creating a second, bakery-focused space suddenly felt real again. Then in January 2026, fate stepped in when 19 Rue End Street became available. We took occupancy in March 2026 and after countless hours, early mornings, late nights, paint, flour, coffee and a lot of hard work, we proudly opened our doors on 29 April 2026.
Today, The Funki Chef is our hybrid takeaway café and cake studio — a place where creativity, comfort and homemade goodness come together. While we specialise in takeaway food, cakes and drinks, we hope we offer something more than that too; a warm welcome, a friendly face and a little moment of comfort in your day. From fresh bakes and celebration cakes to proper food and great coffee, everything we make is created with care and with the same passion that started all those years ago.
For Hannah, this is a real pinch me moment — proof that some dreams simply take a little longer to find their way home. The chef from Africa who simply wanted her own dessert shop has finally found her way here.
